When Spring Chief Executive Dan Hesse was asked by reporters in Detroit about whether Sprint would start selling the Apple iPhone, the CEO declined to answer, saying that his company “does not reveal conversations it has with third parties.”

However, many think that Sprint will follow in Verizon’s footsteps and sell the iPhone, first, because the CDMA variant of the iPhone Apple is making for Verizon is also compatible with  Sprint’s network in the US. Also, Sprint featured the iPhone in a commercial that was aired last March. It showed its 4G network being tethered to the iPhone over Wifi, telling customers to “make your iPhone 4G.”

On its website, Apple has a ticker that is counting the number of apps downloaded by its users.  This will be a huge milestone in Apple’s history, and they are celebrating with a contest: whoever downloads the 10 billionth app could win a $10,000 iTunes gift card. It can even be just a free app, Mashable says in a blog post. They also said this:

To say that Apple’s App Store has been a huge success would be an understatement. At the end of September 2009,2 billion apps had been downloaded from the store. In January 2010 the number was 3 billion. The number has more than tripled approximately one year later, showing the strength of Apple’s app ecosystem, which now encompasses three major devices: the iPod touch, the iPhone and the iPad.

At the beginning of this month, Apple opened a Mac App Store which has a total of about 1,000 free and paid apps for Mac computers. However, in the iPhone app store, there are well over 300,000 apps!

The highly anticipated launch of The Daily, an iPad only newspaper, will be pushed back by a few weeks reported All Things Digital. They said that the planned launch for Wednesday had been cancelled and a News Corp insider confirmed that the launch had been delayed.

Rupert Murdoch, the News Corp chairman and chief executive, was going to unveil the Daily with Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.

It is rumored that Apple is still working on changes that it’s making to iTunes in order to allow a subscription service that will automatically bill the Daily’s users on a weekly or monthly basis for the cost of receiving the download each morning.

I guess all of us who want to read the Daily on our iPads will have to wait a few weeks longer. Please comment with your thoughts about this!

According to a German site called Macnotes, the Apple iPad 2 will supposedly be released on the first or second Saturday in April. It will only be available through the Apple store, and retailers such as Walmart and BestBuy might have to wait until October before they can sell the tablet.

This rumored release date is only for the United States. The iPad 2 is rumored to be going to other countries sometime in July.

It’s finally here! Apple has just released a beta version of iOS 4.3, the newest operating system update for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad! However, it is only available for developers.

There are several new features including the personal hotspot (which I wrote about before), multi-touch gestures for iPad, and customizable messaging alerts. Also, the button to lock your iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone can now be customized with iOS 4.3.

Also, users now have the option to play their text and MMS message alerts once, twice, three, five, or ten times, which gives them more control over how they are informed. Developers can also use the new AVFoundation APIs for HTTP Live Streaming Statistics. This allows them to track information about their content, like how many people are watching their videos, how long they are watching them, and how well the ads in the videos are doing.

The only two products that are not compatible with the new iOS 4.3 are the second-generation iPod Touch and the iPhone 3G.

Please comment below with what you think about this! Do you like the new operating system, and are you looking forward to it coming out in a stable release?
