Yesterday, I wrote about how Android seems to be taking over the smartphone market nowadays. Now the stats are out that back up this claim! During the last three months of 2010, the number of smartphones that run Android has passed the number of iPhones.

Out of the 61.5 million smartphone users 13 years and older, 26% used Android powered phones. The iPhone comes in in third place with 25% of the market, and surprisingly, RIM’s Blackberry leads the market with 33.5%!

Microsoft is in fourth with a mere 9% of the market.

The overtake of Apple by Android was inevitable. The number of Android powered phones is always growing, with companies like Samsung, Sony, and LG using it.
